You apply your makeup as usual and you look gorgeous when you leave your house but by the end of the afternoon you look at yourself on a mirror ,your makeup has worn off and your whole face looks like a hot mess? If anyone can relate to this it's sure me! I love the Country where I live in but the thing I dislike most about it is the HUMIDITY!!! I HATE IT!!! It makes everything feel sticky and even my hair goes through a lot because of it. Hopefully, I have learnt a bunch of tips throughout those years of reading beauty blogs and watching Makeup Videos on Youtube and now it's my turn to help you defeat Mr. Humidity and many other beauty related problems once and for all!

Tip #1

Always clean your face before applying anything on it. You have to imagine that you are a painter and you need a clean canvas to start with your work of art. You can start by exfoliating using your favourite face exfoliator or you can a DIY using sugar and olive oil on your face to get rid off dead skin cells that might block your pores and cause breakouts. Then wash your face using a facial cleansing foam/soap and your favourite facial cleansing brush. Try to avoid using your hands on your face because this can cause skin to breakout. After exfoliation comes moisturizer and SPF. I love using the LR Health & Beauty ZeitGard Facial Cleansing System that comes with a facial cleansing brush and a facial cleansing cream/gel that you're supposed to apply to the brush after wetting it with water. Their brush comes with Microsilver particles that are anti-bacterial thus preventing any bacterial growth and mold from occurring. I also love using their Racine facial cleansing foam and the Aloe Vera Skin Refining face scrub to exfoliate and end my skin care routine with the Racine Moisturizing gel/cream for oily/combination skin.

Tip #2

Prime your face with a makeup primer to get your face ready for makeup and make your makeup last longer. A primer fills in your pores , blurs imperfections and makes your makeup look a million times better and longer lasting. There are many types of primers depending on your skin type. You might ask what does this Nivea Men After shave balsam have to do in this post? Well, this is one of the best primers I have ever used! You can go check out NikkieTutorials review of it on her YouTube channel. Because of the glycerin it contains,

it makes your makeup last all day without making your face oily. Note: It has a slightly men's perfume scent that goes away after you apply it to your face.

Tip #3

Apply Foundation in thin layers and slowly build your coverage, never apply foundation in thick layers as it will make your face look cakey and it will melt away. Same rule applies to lipstick.

Tip #4

Try a pressed setting powder. Use it after you've applied your makeup using a fluffy brush and apply it to the T-Zone and chin and also under the eyes. What it does is sets your makeup in place, smoothes it and it mattifies your face as it gets rid of excess oil. My favourite pressed powder is the MatteMaker by Maybelline. It leaves my face shine-free for upto 5 hours.

Tip #5

Set your foundation using a setting spray to make it last all day without moving around. This makes your makeup look more natural. I love using W7 The Fixer Makeup setting spray to set my makeup in place and the MAC mineralize charged water to hydrate my skin and also as a primer before I apply any makeup as well as a makeup setting spray. They are both really good at making your makeup last all day!!

Tip #6 ( I'm guilty of this! )

Resist the urge to touch your face throughout the day! The oils on your hands will transfer to your skin, which will ruin your makeup. Not only that, but the germs on your hands can cause breakouts.

Tip #7

For your eyes use an eyeshadow primer-base to make your eyeshadow last longer on your eyelids as well as give it a more vibrant colour. I use the I <3 colour intensifying eye shadow base by essence which makes my eyeshadow stay on my eyelid all day without creasing and also intensifies the color of the eyeshadow to make it pop out more.

Tip #8

Use translucent powder on your lips after you apply lipstick to make your lipstick last longer. You can also try a lipstick sealer like the one I usually use Lipcote. It makes my lipstick stay on for a long time even after I eat or drink without it sliding. However, it does make your lips dry and when you apply it try not to accidentally lick your lips because it has a strong disgusting taste. Yes, it happened to me and trust me you don't want to taste it. Also, make sure your lips are not chapped because it will sting like hell!

Tip #9

If you're running low on foundation you can try adding a little bit of moisturizer with it to get more uses of the remaining foundation. You've just learned how to make your own tinted moisturizer!!! Congratulations!!! :)

Tip #10

Apply the right amount of product not more and not less. This table explains a few stuff .

Tip #11

To soften your makeup brushes and make it easier for you to clean them, massage in some oil before you wash them with soap.

Tip #12

To extend the shelf life of certain products, you can store them in the fridge. Here is a list of products that are safe to keep in the fridge: eye creams, nail polish, and natural beauty products. Eyeshadows and lipsticks should not be stored in the refrigerator. Lipsticks because they lose their moisture and eyeshadows; because humidity can produce mold growth which is the last thing you want to do.

Tip #13

You can use oil blotting sheets to get rid of excess skin oil. I personally love The Body Shop Teat tree oil infused blotting tissues because not only do they absorb excess skin oil but they have tee tree oil infused in them which calms any redness and reduces spots.

Tip #14

To make your lashes look voluminous and thick, apply coconut and castor oil using an old but clean mascara wand before going to bed. These oils moisturize and strengthen as well as lengthen your natural eyelashes. Just be careful not to let any of the oils get into your eyeball as it will sting a loooot.

Tip #15

Just be yourself and wear whatever makeup makes you feel confident, smart and sexy. Also don't forget to have fun with your makeup, you know it's an art so don't be afraid to be creative and unique. If you're afraid of how you might end up looking, remember that it's just makeup and you can wipe it off. :)

These are just a few tips I have learnt throughout the years from YouTube, magazines, books and blogs. I hope you learnt a thing or a few from these tips.

Until next time Chicas,
